Sculptris Head 8

Came home from a very nice christmas dinner with family and wanted to put in another sculpt. This one took me between four and five hours to make. Eye’s are still difficult to make but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. The hat was quite a challenge since thin objects are very hard to sculpt in sculpting software, but it came out good enough. I have some ideas to make it a bit easier to get a smooth edge, but I’ll have to try that in a future sculpt.

A new head sketch I made in Sculptris. I took some more time to make this one, about 2,5 hours.

A forty-five minute sculpt.
Just to make clear, for all sculpts posted in december a time limit is set beforehand and I try to get the best sculpt I can within that time, so none of them are finished and all still need a lot of work to finish them.
An hour is a minimum to get something half decent I think. Especially the eye’s are difficult. Personally I find it near impossible to work with subtools in Sculptris so I try to sculpt them in, which takes quite some time and is difficult to get right so far.

The head was sculpted in Sculptris and retopologised in Topogun.
All the fine details as wel as some structural change were done in Zbrush.
The texture was hand painted in Zbrush, no photo’s used.

Here are two quick sculpts I made during downtime at work. Both took about two hours to make.
Rendered in Cheeta, cause that was what I had with me and didn’t require left-at-home dongles or change of OS.
